Booking direct: how it works and what to check first
Booking straight with the owner puts you in touch with the people who know the place best. Here’s how to do it with confidence.

Many vacation rental owners run their own websites, with their own calendars, rates and booking pages. Booking direct simply means reserving there, with the owner, instead of through a large rental marketplace.
Every stay in our directory works this way. You find a place you love here, tap Book Now, and land on the owner’s own booking page.
Why travelers like booking direct
- You talk to the owner. Questions about bed setups, parking or a late arrival go straight to the person who can answer them.
- The house rules are clear. Owners set their own rules and spell them out, so you know what to expect before you arrive.
- Local know-how. Owners often share their favorite restaurants, beaches and day trips, and some offer concierge help.
- A real relationship. Loved your stay? It’s easy to come back to the same place next year.
Your before-you-pay checklist
Booking direct is easy, and a few quick checks make it stress-free:
- Confirm the total. Ask for the full price for your dates, including cleaning fees, taxes and any deposits.
- Read the cancellation policy. Know the refund rules, deadlines and any fees before you commit to your dates.
- Check the house rules. Look at occupancy limits, pets, minimum renter ages and quiet hours.
- Pay through the owner’s booking system. Use the checkout on their website and keep your confirmation.
- Look for reviews. Many owner sites show guest reviews, so read a few from recent stays.
- Get arrival details in writing. Address, check-in time, access instructions and a contact number for your stay.
How our directory fits in
My Space. Your Place. is where you discover owner-run stays from Panama City Beach to Port St. Joe, plus a few hand-picked international stays. The booking itself happens on the owner’s site, between you and them. We don’t handle payments or add a fee to your booking.
